About our cause
The Mullany Fund- Together Making Futures provides a fantastic and valued service for the young people of Swansea. Originally established as a social mobility charity in October 2008, the charity’s flagship project, Together Making Futures now supports young people aged 14-19 who want to pursue wider STEM professions and education. We target our support to young people from more disadvantaged backgrounds.
Together Making Futures has been delivering support to young people in Swansea for the last 9 years. Schools and colleges we work through include: Dylan Thomas, Bishop Gore, Bishop Vaughan, Birchgrove, Cefn Hengoed, Gower College, Morriston, Gowerton, Penyrheol, Pentrehafod, Gwyr, Cwmtawe and Bryn Tawe. We also work with 100 DBS checked volunteer mentors from local organisations:
As well as the e-Mentoring element of our project, we have facilitated career talks and work experience opportunities, both face to face and online, including opportunities with the Swansea University Nursing Department, the Assistive Technologies Innovation Centre in Swansea and the Scarlets rugby team support. Our initiatives provide a supportive environment for young people to access relevant career information whilst boosting their communication skills and confidence to help them succeed in their chosen scientific field.
Our project is rooted in the fundamental principle of upholding the dignity of every individual. We are extremely proud of the impact that our project has had on young people in Swansea. We would like to maintain this impact. Our innovative, online matching system, developed in 2018 enables us to potentially match every young person in Swansea who is unable to access careers support, with a mentor.
We need your help so we can continue to offer and even expand our service!
Thank you for your support and good luck!
